The Zillertal Arena is a real paradise - particularly for families. A lot of things have been thought of here to ensure that children have an action-packed holiday.
The Spruce Tree Castle on the Rosenalm is magical, fantastic and enchanting. It is an imaginary wooden castle made of spruce, on and in which children can play and clamber around to their heart's content. In an area of over 5,000 m² the 'castle' has 4 towers to explore, an adventure playground, a water and sand play area, a balancing & treetop trail and the spruce spirits builders' hut. The Castle Kitchen with barbecue area is also really great.
Spruce Lake is a new attraction on the Rosenalm next to the Spruce Tree Castle. The artificial Fichtensee lake has a shallow-water cove for kids and a jetty for swimming and diving. You can even go boating or try standup paddleboarding. Shaded areas and a buggy-friendly 'Alm walk' round off the things to be enjoyed at Spruce Lake. The Alm walk links Spruce Tree Castle with Spruce Lake and the Rosenalmbahn cable car.
And the best thing about it: entrance and playing is free of charge!
The first Alpine roller coaster in Zell am Ziller offers plenty of fun in summer and winter! Starting directly at the valley station of the Rosenalmbahn cable car, enjoy a speedy descent of 1,125 metres. Children aged 10 or over may ride on their own, from 4 years only when accompanied by an adult (minimum age 16). With your safety belt securely fastened, the ride takes you up to 9 metres above the ground over waves, steep curves and even round 360-degree and 540-degree loops.
Directly at the valley station of the Rosenalmbahn cable car, next to the Arena Coaster alpine roller coaster is a vast kingdom waiting for kids to discover! The Adventure Playground at Zell am Ziller offers a giant tubular curving slide, a great climbing castle and a trampoline area. Here kids can really let of steam and practice climbing!
Zell Leisure Park was completely redesigned in 2018 and offers many opportunities for those seeking action and adventure to spend the day actively trying things out. Families in particular will get their money's worth here! There is an open-air leisure pool with a giant slide and children's pool. For sports fans there are tennis courts, beach volleyball, adventure mini golf, an adventure playground, fun court and a bouldering tower - to name but a few of the attractions.
A visit to the Gold Mine in Hainzenberg is a great experience. The guided tour of the mine starts at the Hochzeller Käsealm where you enter the mineshaft and begin with an impressive multimedia presentation about gold mining. You will also learn a lot about the life of the miners. In addition to the tour, which lasts about 2 hours, there is also a ride on the Zillertal Gold Express and cheese tasting at the Alm.
Amidst the magnificent natural scenery of the Hohen Taunern, the Krimml Waterfalls cascade 380 metres down the rock face. They are among the fifth highest in the world and form the centrepiece for the Wasserwelten adventure centre. Young and old can learn a lot about water here, and experiment and splash around to their heart's content. Take advantage of the low-priced family ticket and experience the Aquapark for kids, the Haus des Wassers exhibition and Aquaszenarium for brave explorers!
In a fantastic location on Leisure Mountain Ahorn, the Ahornsee lake provides tempting cool water. There are play opportunities for children and rest areas for adults to linger in the sun or shade. Children particularly love the easy walking trail along the Arhon stream, broken up by play stations and water oases. The Ahorn stream runs from the Ahornsee lake to the Adlerbühne Ahorn. A very special, idyllic place for nature lovers and families!
Pepi's Kinderland in Finkenberg on Penkenjoch is a separate kingdom just for kids. Here there are airbags to jump on, a swing paradise, balancing paths, slide towers, a climbing wall and much more waiting to be tried out! Penkenpepi, an 8-metre wooden playground bear, greets little friends from afar. There is a lot to discover here on 3 different levels! The low ropes course with 30 elements is equally attractive for children, young people and adults.
Where children of all ages can let of steam in the snow - in the middle of summer! The Gletscherflohpark on the Hintertux Glacier is located at an altitude of 3,250 metres and provides excitement for children every year in high summer. Having a snowball fight in the middle of summer on the glacier, whizzing down the ski slope on a bob sleigh or trying out the giant gondola are all really fantastic! For kids that want to aim high.
Tyrol offers plenty of surprises. This includes a unique play arena in Zillertal: Playarena Tux. In an indoor area covering 1,200 m² there is a high ropes course, modern climbing wall, giant slides and a trampoline park to check out. A real paradise for older and younger kids. With childcare! For the older ones, there is a cinema and children's disco. Outside, the large play park delights with adventurous nature experiences, canyoning, white-water rafting and much, much more!
